Grace E. Lucas

Grace Elizabeth Lucas, 79, longtime resident of DuBoistown, died Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born March 4, 1937 at Williamsport, the daughter of the late Starrett D. and Hazel E. Hill Lucas.

Grace was a graduate of the South Williamsport High School Class of 1955. She was employed for 42 years by the former Williamsport national Bank from where she retired.

A life long member of the Saint Matthew Lutheran Church at Williamsport, Grace was an Authorized Lay Worship Leader for the church. She was a member of the Women of the ELCA Upper Susquehanna Synod and a past member of the Upper Susquehanna Synod Council.

Grace was an active participant in her community, serving on DuBoistown borough council,  and as a past member of the South Williamsport Area Mummers’ Association. Grace was also a member of the Jersey Shore Local of the Business and Professional Women, and was director of District 6. She was so excited and honored to be the chair person of bringing their state convention to Williamsport in 2017.

Loved by her sister and many dear friends, she will always be remembered for her charismatic personality and her unyielding strength and enthusiasm for any task that she decided to take on. She was caring and compassionate and will be remembered by all for her love of conversation and wanting to know what was happening with everyone that she encountered.

She is survived by her sister, Miss Nancy E. Lucas of Duboistown.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Saint Matthew  Lutheran Church, 2233 Linn Street, Williamsport. Her pastor, Rev. David Byerly, will officiate. Friends are welcome  to attend the visitation on Monday from 10;00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Milton Cemetery, Milton, PA.
